Help! I've just had a new, shorter style and my favourite brush does not get me the same look that I had in the salon!
It’s never going to work if you blow dry your hair with the same brush you have always used for the last ten years. Understand your hair and your style and what tools you need:
- Large round brushes give loose open form
- The smaller the brush the tighter your result will be
- Flat panel brushes are good for long straight hair
- Curly hair is best dried with fingers.
Remember: Your stylist will recommend the right styling tools for you as well as appropriate products for styling your hair. Don’t waste time wandering up and down the aisles hoping to spot the right product for you - there are millions of them and you probably only need about two or three – ask the experts!
It takes me ages to dry my hair in the mornings
Hair won’t take shape until it is at least 75% dry, so you’re just going to get tired and bored if you attempt to style from sopping wet! Try wrapping your hair in a towelling turban for about 20 minutes before you even get the hairdryer out. The law of blow-drying is ‘when the hair is wet and stretched and held in that position until it is dry, it will remain in that position until it is wet again’.
